Alignment of HRM and Business Strategies 1 Introduction Marriott is a universal chain of hotels that is designed to meet various needs and accommodations. The company was founded in 1927, by J. Williard and Alice S. Marriott. Their son, Bill Marriott, Jr. invested many years in developing and nurturing the business into one of today’s Fortune 500 companies. The company has a variety of businesses such as the Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, Courtyard by Marriott and Marriott Vacation Club International. The common denominator is that for each of these accommodations there is a clear and concise vision. Propose how you would ensure the HR strategy is in alignment with the business strategy. In order to evaluate talented employees, it is significant to have professional development workshops to ensure that all staff is on the same page and have a clear vision of the expectations of the company. Performance appraisals are used to determine if employees have showed exemplary performance and if one should be considered for future management roles. Retention 3 rates gives employees a since of belonging as well as security. Especially in today’s job market, it will attract talented candidates.
